At Green Granny, we are an upcycled/recycled crafter, making 18" (American Girl Style) doll clothing, often out of upcycled materials; and multi-size picture frames out of old barn wood taken from actual Midwestern barns.
One thing that people probably don't know about our work is that we do our best to upcycle materials rather than going out and buying new. First, it keeps the cost of our product lower, but more importantly, it gives a great new home to things like old blue jeans, shirts, skirts and what not.
Then, as most of our ads say, we take the profit we are able to make and purchase winter material for blankets for the needy and homeless of our area. It may not be much, but it is giving back to a community that has helped to support us our whole lives.
Lastly, you may find it interesting, that our original Green Granny started working in small items like doll clothing as a means of physical therapy after a carpal tunnel surgery. Now it has become a wonderful business that gives her a way to pay for the winter material, and gives us all a project to work together on!
