The Humane Society of Northern Virginia, powered by Advocates for Abused and Abandoned Pets (A3P) is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to saving and improving the lives of companion animals. Guided by our “Pets 4 Life” philosophy, we work to keep pets in loving homes whenever possible while providing compassionate care, rehabilitation, and placement for animals in need.

Our mission is to promote the human-animal bond and a no-kill philosophy through compassion, empathy, and education. We advocate for pets by ensuring they receive the medical care, training, and nurturing they need to thrive in the right forever home. We also provide sanctuary for senior, injured, and hard-to-place animals at risk of euthanasia.

Through community partnerships, affordable wellness resources, humane education, and spay/neuter initiatives, we strive to reduce pet homelessness and build a community where animals are valued as lifelong family members. As a nonprofit, 100% of donations directly support our mission and the animals in our care.
