Igimèjí is a alt-R&B band based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. The band formed when Oladipo Oyediran (guitar/vocals) and Kayla Scales (keyboard/vocals) found themselves in Kathmandu, Nepal with little money and in dire straits. They started writing songs and performing at a local bar called Booze Belly and it was there that Igimèjí was truly born. When they returned to Dallas, Texas, they immediately immersed themselves into the open mic scene, where they eventually met Jelen Farrow (drums) and Aaron Payton (bass/ production). They released their first single in 2020, Magic and an EP, Two Trees in 2021. They soon started playing local music festivals such as Deep Ellum Arts Festival, Arts Goggle, and Main Street Arts Festival. They released their highest streamed single, Crazy (for you) in 2023, helping them further break into local radio. Recently, this. band of sonic alchemists has added a new member, Rafael Powell II (saxophone) and released their debut album, It's Not A Race.
