Retired and took up long anticipated interst in painting. Self taught. Can reproduce anything I have a copy of[old photos, etc.] Am especially adept at detail and revel in reproducing ...from old b/w photos ..ancestoral, or current, homesteads/places. Paint pets [all animals on native limestone rock. Call it Pet On A Rock. My grandfather was a professional and the ability to paint/draw apparently seems to hit one in each generation. My grandfather, My aunt[none of whose 3 brothers --one of whom was my father--could draw/paint] Me [my brother has no such ability---nor do any of his 4 kids] My daughter[who doesn't use it[my granddaughter who doesn't either.] Never really had the opportunity to pursue my avocation til I retired. So started from scratch about 6 years ago. Pretty rough at first...but done well enough to sell pieces online and at shows. Am looking to expand my exposure, in seeking new areas to show my art. Since I din't start until I attained my 70s...my time is more limited than had I started many years ago when I should have....but was too busy 'making a living' to support my family. I do commission work[mostly] and am told my compensense is extremely frugal. My work can also be seen on facebook in my photo albums at Jimbo Sheils and Sheils Studio.
