Nice to Meet you,
My name is John Keuvelaar
My photographic journey first began with a used 35mm Nikon camera. I loved shooting nature on vacations and my sister's youth softball and hockey. I discovered immediately that not only did I love the photography of people and nature, but I was pretty good at it. What I especially love about photography is capturing the beauty and artistry of the subjects I photograph. Whether landscapes, nightscapes, people, or sports, I always strive to find that particular feature, angle, or look that makes that shot more memorable and unique. I have even used my photographs to create graphic designs for businesses and organizations.
Along my photographic journey, I have expanded my horizons to senior, family, and wedding photography. And while I thoroughly enjoy telling each individual's story through photos, there is an excellent story in landscape and nightscape photography. With each photo, I strive to truly capture not only the beauty of the moment but also the beauty of the scene from a perspective that gives it that unique Wow factor. I want the viewer to see the sunset and feel like they are there. I want them to feel the breeze in the grasses, hear the water lapping on the shore, and touch the moment as they gaze across the horizon.
For over 20 years, I have been the photographer for my local high school football team and Madonna University softball and volleyball. I have also been a contributing photographer and writer for MyBayCity.com for over eight years. I am a 2020 Saginaw Valley State University graduate majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Art. I incorporate these artistic skills into every photo I take.
My photographs have frequently been shown on social media sites such as Pure Michigan, Upper Peninsula Travel, PureUP, Michigan Wildlife, Nature Enthusiasts, and Lighthouses, to name a few. My "Stairway to Heaven" photo was the cover photo for Western Michigan Travel Guide for 2022, and several photographs pieces have been purchased and are being displayed in the new cardiac wing of the McLaren Petoskey Regional Hospital.
