About

John Marc Anderson

Member Since: April 1, 2014
John Marc Anderson is an American artist born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, March 25, 1956. Raised in a military family, Marc grew up all over the United States and Europe, in a household that fostered creativity, as well as a love of science, music and history, architecture, and travel.

Marc's art encompasses a broad variety of media, including paint, 3-D mixed media, free standing sculpture, lifecasting, and incorporates a myriad of unusual materials not typically found in an artist's studio.

A typical piece of art produced by Marc may utilize advanced materials and methods as well, including rapid prototyping using laser sintering technology, mold making and casting, and the use of recycled or repurposed components like house paint, wood stain, styrofoam panel, insulation board, mannequin parts, and other eclectic material.

Often referred to as "the 3-D guy", Marc's three dimensional work often drops jaws at area art shows and festivals. His work attempts to capture the soul and spirit of the New Orleans experience. Not a native, he describes himself as a "semi-permanent" guest of the city he has fallen in love with.

Marc is largely self-taught as an artist, and much of his work reflects that path, as he tends to deviate from conventional style and methods, though he often has said, "if I had it to all over again, I would have attended RISD (Rhode Island School Of Design) or maybe Parsons, and I would have been properly educated as an artist".

Marc has appeared in many local art shows, fairs, festivals, and his work is often found in many area galleries. Locally, his work is available at several area high end gift and art retailers. You can visit the Where To Buy page on his web site to find local dealers and retailers.

Marc and his family divide their time between home in Mandeville, Louisiana, and Washington,D.C.
