I am potter with many years experience - I am 71yrs old - I was asked and became responsible to take over the local dying pottery studio to try and revive interest by encouraging potential potters to workshops and learn.
I was Teaching and giving workshops on hand building and potters wheel from beginners to firing in kiln the finished pottery - to making glazes using specific recipes.
I successfully had over 50 new potters join the studio over the years until the snow storm of 2019 causing the roof of the building to collapse and the studio was lost. Some of the enthusiasts moved on to having their own studios and traveled to different countries to learn new ways and techniques.
I have traveled to Chile experienced their old and primitive clay pot making techniques and to Mexico over the years
I have my own small studio complete with kiln now where I work and have a few potter friends and enthusiast come and fire their creations in the kiln. We call ourselves ' The Pirate Potters' a name picked by one of our potters.
