Jordan Covington just dropped his new single “Where the Moon Don't Shine” for 2014. The new single was debuted during Renegade Radio Nashville's live broadcast from the “Official Watch Party” for the new hit TV series Nashville. Covington was selected by Renegade Radio Nashville.com as one of their “New Faces of Country”.
The 23 year-old took the reins of The Holy Smoke Band at the tail-end of his college career at Appalachian State University (ASU) where he began scratching out his earlier music in his Boone apartment. It wasn't until his roommate, the shortstop for the Mountaineers baseball team, urged him to start playing songs for the ASU squad. At that point, Covington began to sing publicly and let loose of his fear.
Prior to Covington's music career, his passion was baseball. He played his last two seasons at Guilford Tech Community College. Covington's first single “Way Back” debuted in 2013. He dedicated the song to his late grandfather who instilled his passion for the game. Covington earned a “Featured Artist of the Week” spot on ReverbNation.com February 18, 2014. He earned this honor as a result of a “Crowd Review” for his single “Way Back”.
What I liked about “Way Back” was that I did not have to listen to it over and over to decide if I liked it. From the get go, I was drawn to the lyrics and the music. Clean, clear, melodic, edgy…and veering a bit from the new norm of country music writes Elise Tiripicchio of GotCountryOnline.
Covington was one of a select handful of country artists chosen to perform at the 2013 Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida. His band has also opened for Nashville recording artists Dustin Lynch, Confederate Railroad, Kristian Bush of Sugarland, and rising country artist Chris Lane.
