Katie Knight “Be different, stand out, and work your tail off,” are the words Katie Knight lives by; a quote made famous by one of her idol's, Reba McEntire, for which she not only shares her vivacious spirit but signature red hair. “I love singing, playing the guitar and writing music,” shares Katie. This comes as no surprise to anyone. The tenacious teen has been entertaining most of her life. In fact, she began singing solos at her church when she was just 4 years old! Katie's performances are marked by her youthful vigor and raw talent. She takes her audiences on a musical journey with heartfelt Patty Loveless covers including “Chains” and “Blame it on Your Heart” to catchy originals like “Sad Song” and “No End in Sight.” Katie who sounds like a mixture of Miranda Lambert meets Lee Ann Womack, grew up in Farmerville, Louisiana, a small town north of Monroe, listening and singing along to artists like Randy Travis, Loretta Lynn, The Commodores, KC & The Sunshine Band, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Hall & Oates, Elvis Presley, Los Lonely Boys, Merle Haggard and of course Reba. Her journey into music would forever change at the tender age of 8. With her birthday money, young Katie bought her first guitar and started lessons less than 3 weeks later. That same year she began expanding her performances into the local nursing home and as a guest at other churches near her hometown. At age 14, Katie told her parents she wanted to hone her talent and take singing lessons. As a Christmas gift, Katie's parents took her to Music City, Nashville, TN, for her first lesson with vocal coach and music industry insider Dave Brooks. Upon Brooks' recommendation, Katie recorded her first 5-song EP less than 5 months later! Katie's parents have been instrumental in helping her develop her musical talents. As Katie puts it, “I have unbelievably supportive parents and family. They are behind me 100%. Along with being supportive they push me to do my best. Nothing I've done would have been possible without them.” Katie has just recorded her 2nd full length album "Girl Like That." It is packed with 14 exciting new songs that are sure to be a hit with country music fans. Both of her albums "Girl Like That" and "Color Outside The Lines" are available on I-Tunes for download! Katie has performed several concerts alongside multi-platinum artist, Sammy Kershaw, whom she affectionately refers to as Mr. Sammy. Although she is still a young performer, Katie is not afraid to tackle the adult themes and the loving, leaving, and cheating songs synonymous with Country music. One of her favorite songs to cover in her live shows is Merle Haggard's lonesome song, “Silver Wings.” Katie loves to entertain, but says that her music is for a higher purpose. “Although my parents deserve a lot of thanks, there's someone else who deserves it even more than them and that's Jesus Christ. My desire is to serve Him through my life and my music.” “Always take time to enjoy life,” quotes the nature lover. Louisiana is the Sportsman's Paradise and Katie certainly knows her roots. “When I'm not playing or singing, I'm fishing, tubing, knee boarding, or running. I love the outdoors!” When Katie was asked about her hopes for the long term, "Singing on the Grand Ole Opry stage would be the ultimate dream for me."
