I paint landscapes, which are not about ann isolated place ore a specific time of day, but rather about a particular feeling, a sense that is iniitiated by the scene, and one that remembered rather than closely observed. Evoking a mood or emotion is key and I rely on color equivalents, that is to say, using a color that is correct in value but not necessarily seen in nature. Eve when my paintings are non-objective, they encompass aspects of atmosphere, moods, or feelings. My intention is to awaken the viewer.
