As a child I watched my mother paint; in front of her, a board and a piece of rice paper attached. She sits and paints as if she were below a mountain with a waterfall and mist delicately encasing her face; on the beach with the surf creeping towards her; just above a marina sketching boats about the shores. She sits, and I sit, by her side. She would let me paint next to her. I touched the paper with one stroke of a brush, I too, was at that mountain, I too felt mist on my face, I too was at the beach with salt sprinkled air. This was the lesson from the master to the young heart. Three generations shared the passion of, living with, and creating, all for the love of art. From an artist, to an artist, and, to another, we shared the talent and the belief of having art continue in our lives and hope to inspire those around us.
From this time to the next and on, I tried to find a place of my own; using the tools in hand, the art to discover, and the passion taking hold of what I could do; I used the ink with a pen, I used the pencil as to sketch, and I gathered fabrics to sew and fibers to weave. I, with a tool, twisted silver and fastened jewels, and, I, in an unconditional way, sculpted clay. As the years of then and the year at present, I am an artist in multiple ways. I just happened on a design in mind, of fiber, and sparkling jewels; a design from passion, a design of textures, and extraordinary colors, an original creation which mimics style and grace, and as it happens - smiles too.
With a simple tool and a circle of pegs, the mix of elegant to fun fibers, I create my scarf: A one of a kind piece which has not been created before and cannot be duplicated; all original and all hand done.
