Kim's Embroidery Studio, Albuquerque, NM

Kimberley sewed her first stitches on an old treadle machine in the corner of her grandfather's tailor shop, Ryan Tailors in Pueblo Co.) when she was about 7 years old.  Kimberley loved it.  She became skilled enough that her Uncle Stan passed the Ryan Tailor to her at 21 years old.  By 1980 Kimberley came to Albuquerque and worked in galleries in Old Town learning about Southwest art.  After completing her MBA, she opened some tax preparation offices in underserved communities and grew to serve 2,000 clients every year. 

During the confining pandemic she returned to her roots in the sewing room and began producing masks to give away.  During this stressful time, she turned to embroidery to battle depression.    She invested in the biggest sewing machine she had ever seen.  Then began to embroider on a professional scale.  The machine stands almost 6 feet tall, sews 1,500 stitches per minute, has 16 needles and she must stand on a ladder to thread it.  She decorates hats, jackets, wall hangings and aprons.  There are southwest, nature, and God inspired designs.  These items are all unique, finely crafted and accessible to everyone.  Today, Kimberley is cheerful and happy to make her work available to you.  Despite the continuing struggle with the pandemic her depression faded away.
