My first real day on FNO

My first real day on FNO

Okay, so I've belonged to the FNO since June 2009 but haven't really participated in much until now.  I guess I'm a newbie here but, hopefully, I will get going and enjoy the experience.

I've been creating my jewelry now for almost 3 years and really only started considering it a business for about 2.  Before that, I bought my jewelry from a variety of places and have always loved unique pieces.  When we started grubbing for gems and panning for gold, I ended up with all these rocks and wondered "what in the world am I going to do with all of them?"  That's when I decided I'd try making a few things for friends and relatives.  Well, when I found out how much I enjoyed tumbling, cutting, cabbing, faceting, drilling and, then, making jewelry out of my stones, I became flooded with ideas and jewelry.  LOL  What a predicament!  Anyway, I did my research to try to find an outlet for my passion and ended up here.

I have been selling on Etsy for almost 2 years after trying a few other sites online.  It's not that Etsy is better than the others - it's just that I would rather work on rocks and make jewelry than fool around on a bunch of sites so I had to narrow it down.  When I tried to create a name for my site, I wanted it to be something simple people could remember and settled on Kippy's Kreations so you can see over 500 pieces at:  kippyskreations.etsy.com

Now that I have learned more about all of the intricate details of making jewelry and have talked with friends, family and customers about what is important to other jewelry purchasers, it's time to get my feet wet and do a show.  Since I'm disabled and cannot travel alone or handle heat or too much stress, I have to be very particular about which shows I do and when.  I wish I could just travel around the country and do shows every weekend but that's not possible.  Therefore, in the summer months (especially in a summer this hot) I have to limit my shows to indoor venues.  Once it cools down, I hope to do some outdoor shows where I can meet more people and enjoy the scenery.

I'd absolutely love to hear from other crafters and jewelry designers so be sure to let me hear from you.  My name is Kippylou and I'm very happy to be here!
