42 years and counting, the Krewe of Erin has celebrated Celtic history, culture, and traditions in downtown Ponchatoula, LA. It started as an idea to honor the many Irish families that have figured prominently in Ponchatoula history, from the early years to today. They also wanted to honor the young ladies in our small town who longed for recognition for something other than sports. Something that allowed them to get dressed up and be recognized for their brains rather than their brawn.

In 2003, the krewe broadened from solely Irish to now embrace all of the Celtic people, as our motto states “We Unite the Celtic Peoples”.  Today we are a multi-generational family organization that is open to all who are interested in joining.  Some families have Celtic heritage, while some do not,  but as we all know, everyone's Irish on parade day. The Krewe of Erin is the oldest walking parade on the Northshore.

In 2019, the krewe opened its court to young gentlemen.  With Mr Steve Pugh as their mentor, the 1st Knight and squires of Erin were knighted, taking the pledge of bravery, courtesy, honor and gallantry towards all.

In 2021 the krewe expanded its horizons and “The KOE Celtic Heritage Festival' was born, with it came its own Queen and court.  In September the KOE Celtic Heritage Festival will be celebrating its 5th year.
