The World Chicken Festival began in 1990 as a tribute to Laurel County Kentucky having the first Kentucky Fried Chicken. The festival is a 4 day event, that takes place on Main Street and surrounding back streets in London Kentucky. The festival is always scheduled the last full weekend of September. Each year we have approx 100,000 visitors attending the festival. The World Chicken Festival offers free entertainment with 2 stages-one for national acts and one for local and regional acts, several contests such as the Colonel Sanders Look-A-Like, Cluckin'-Strunttin'-Crowin' contest, Mullet and Beard Contest, Hot Wing Eating Contest, on site Chicken Cook-off, Karaoke contest, Chicken Invasion contest and many more. There are over 200 vendors including food, crafts and retail vendors from all over the country. You can get a fried chicken dinner (not KFC recipe) from the world's largest skillet. We have carnival rides for all ages & a midway. There is a Kiddie World with puppet shows, magic tricks, etc for the little ones. The festival also has off-site a chick-o-lympics, 5k run, pageant, car show, corn hole tournament.
