Grace Marques, a resident of Connecticut is a self-taught artist whose work is inspired by everyday life. Her artistic talents have been expressed in a variety of different media, including oils, watercolors, drawing, photography, metals, leather and glass.
Grace's distinctive leather cuffs and tassel necklaces represent her often changing state of ideas as well as her love for the feel, colors and scents of leather. her designs incorporate new and recycled leather, glass and metal, often include unusual vintage elements collected from small shops and markets from her travels.
Each cuff and necklace is unique, and tells a story based on the artist's own experiences: supple leathers in green and purple combine with strong blue zippers to invoke a colorful market place in India: soft brown leathers and unique watch parts to commemorate the passing of a childhood friend. Custom orders can also be designed utilizing a client's pieces to reflect the interest of the clients for whom they are created.
