Lizzie Bee Candle Company is a Beeswax Candle company producing tapers, pillars, and specialty candles. I sell on Etsy and Facebook as well as in person (word-of-mouth sales). Candles are made with pure beeswax. I use colour at times (red, black, green, teal) but no scent.
I have been selling photography on Etsy for two years. I specialize in nature photography, flowers, birds, and bees. This has been a great way to learn to run a business while letting me have the freedom of pursuing what I like best in my photography!
I recently became interested in trying beeswax candlemaking. I began with a 10 oz piece of wax and some votive molds and became instantly addicted. I now buy wax by the 15 pound supply and have a variety of molds, mostly tapers. I have some slender 8 inch tapers, some stubbier yet still incredibly elegant looking 8 inch tapers, some regal looking Colonial style 10 inch tapers, and some plain and decorative pillar molds. I hope to have a show in the spring, and am selling online in the meantime.
I love beeswax as a medium because it looks so beautiful left on its own without colour added or scent. The candles have a lovely golden glow when they are lit and there is little smoke or drip. I occasionally use colour and it turns out that black candles are my biggest sellers! I don't use scent at all. It is possible this may change but for right now I really enjoy the natural scent of beeswax. It smells faintly of honey and sometimes when I am melting a lot it smells a bit boozy! I hate to destroy that. Beeswax candles have an interesting effect on the air quality. There is much less to none of the usual contaminants from other types of candles, and there is a purifying effect of ions emitted by the burning candles interacting with toxins in the air.
