Mawk3, West Hollywood, CA
MAWK3 is a force to be reckoned with. This LA-based modern rock power trio features heavy guitars, driving beats and radio-friendly hooks. The band came together first as friends and quickly discovered there was an effortless, beautiful chemistry when they got into a room to make music.
For years vocalist/bassist Steve Giles, guitarist Jason Sweeny, and drummer Dan Nelles played in various rock bands in and around Los Angeles, with those bands performing nationally in the US, and internationally, including The Secret Things, Saucy Monky, Dream Life Misery, 3 Penny Needle, The Magnetic South, and The Obvious Wish. Prior to the Summer of 2023 however, never had all three been in the same group. Eventually “we should jam sometime” turned into a booked rehearsal room in North Hollywood, and after the very first night it was clear something special was happening.
The band would go on to write 30 songs in the first six weeks after getting together and were off and running. Studio time was booked, and they put down the nine tracks that would make up their debut album “Bravo Zulu,” which would go on to be released in October 2024.
Their much-anticipated debut single “Supernatural” was released in June of 2024, with a great global reception. From domestically in the US, to terrestrial and internet radio adds in the UK, France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Israel, Colombia, Serbia, Mexico, and a heavy response from Brazil, the song crossed boarders with global mass appeal.
Their second single “Thin Ice” released in July of 2024 has been described as “explosive, bold and driven, with killer riffs and soaring textures throughout that will have you pumping your fists from start to finish.”
After following with further singles “Masterpiece,” and “Mayflower,” the band released their debut album BRAVO ZULU on October 4, 2024. Up to the release of the album, the band's music has been played in 140 countries around the world, building many global fans in the process.
Calling on influences from Led Zeppelin to Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stone Age to Royal Blood, the band's sound has a fury and fire that is sure to connect with rock fans of any era.
