Melisa Ramos is a talented Puerto Rican entrepreneur. She possesses a B.A in Communications with a concentration in TV and Media Production from University of Sacred Heart in San Juan and a MFA in Film from Miami International University of Art and Design. She has film awards in the Film Fest “Cine las Americas” in Austin, Texas. Also has designed wardrobe for films and music videos. Creates designs for sets and works in graphic design and advertising. All this has confirmed her artistic vocation. At ten years old she initiated in the needle art on her own and three years later she started to confection jewelry. At her seventeen years old she became a certified artisan who worked with all nature elements like wood, seeds, shells, sand, crystals, etc to confection her pieces. This tendency to design and confection with reusable materials has always accompanied her. She started creating paper accessories in San Juan in 2001. Later she started to study in Miami, Florida; she observed the huge amount of flyers thrown away in the city. Then all her interest for the environment, all her eco-ethical ancestral culture, all her experience and personal history related to her Caribbean country, all her purposes and lectures directed her to continue creating designs with paper. She searched in magazines waste as she was searching precious stones in a mine. She hunted for the color, prints and textures of quartz and amethysts. She searched for the daylight of the emeralds and the night of the rubies in printed pictures and this way Eco-bloom was born. Paper converted into an art piece, where the typography of a print can be the element that enhances the beauty of a necklace or a bracelet for a woman; a woman who exhibits her commitment with our environment and her life.
