I am a largely untrained artist what has been working in mixed-media collage in one shape or another for the past fifty years. Iconoclastic Collage fuses recognized iconography in the form of paper and mixed-media assemblages to shape arresting images that challenge viewers to reconsider pre-conceived assumptions about art and culture. My business name, Retro Fusion Collage, is an attempt to describe both the materials and the process. Recognizable objects and paper emphemera from the past are fused together seamlessly to form something new. As one young customer declared upon purchasing a piece that merged a Hubble Telescope photo with Victorian Easter ephemera, "So this is what Photoshop looked like before there was Photoshop!" While I give myself permission to change and experiment as I grow as an artist. At present this kind of seamless fusion of disparate iconography describes much of what I do.
