The Juneau Public Market is consistently rated by vendors as the best holiday retail show in Alaska. We have been at it for over four decades. The Public Market was among the initial events to be staged at Juneau's brand new Centennial Hall and Convention Center, which opened in May 1983.
The 3-day “Public Market” held every Thanksgiving weekend at Centennial Hall soon became a well-established holiday tradition for the people of Juneau and the surrounding region. In 1989, the Public Market expanded from the Sheffield Ballroom to the entire facility, and in 2007 we opened the Public Market Annex at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center (JACC), which shares a parking lot with Centennial Hall.
At the 2023 Juneau Public Market every booth and niche at Centennial Hall and the JACC were occupied by vendors from Anchorage, Chugiak, Dillingham, Eagle River, Fairbanks, Gustavus, Haines, Homer, Kake, Ketchikan, Palmer, Sitka, Wasilla, and Wrangell -- as well as Juneau. We also hosted several vendors from the Lower 48, one from as far away as Chesapeake Bay. Seasoned vendors expressed amazement at their sales, many saying they netted 25% or more than at any previous event.
