I specialize in handmade Crystalline glaze on porcelain pottery. I am not a production pottery. You won't find hundreds of the same pot in my inventory. I prefer to experiment with shape, texture, and glaze. I enjoy pushing the clay to it's limits, to the point where it is just about to collapse, then "freezing" that moment in time. I love the challenge of Crystalline Glaze. One of the most difficult and fickle process' in the pottery world. Few potters want to delve into crystalline because of the many ways it can fail. However, when it comes out right...it is a spectacle to behold.
As for my background and what brought me to pottery... I am a retired Navy Submariner. Then Uncle Sam paid for my education to earn a BFA in Furniture Design from Kendall College of Art and Design. I've been a professional Freelance Furniture Designer for many years and still enjoy it. However, we all must have our outlets. Mine is making pottery. I started in January of 2006 by taking a few basic classes. Then bought a wheel and electric kiln and began my real education in the medium.
I hope to make my pottery business a full time endeavor at some point. I'm working towards that goal.
