Linda Peterson was born in Spokane, Washington. Growing up the youngest of 6, with the closest aged sibling to her was five years older, she spent much of her time playing and creating alone. Throughout her life, Linda has always been interested in art. Even in elementary school, her classmates knew that she would go the extra mile in any creative project that was assigned. Naturally, she continued taking art classes beginning in middle school, through high school, and into college.

Linda draws inspiration from the world around her. Negative shapes of an iron gate, the delicate center of a flower, or the sunlight breaking through the trees on a fall day may send her to her studio to sketch out a design for a mug, stamp, or some other pottery form or surface decoration. She admires the work and techniques of Sunshine Cobb, Sarah Pyke, and Jen Allen.

Linda has lived in 4 US states. After closing her membership-based art studio in Michigan in 2009, she was introduced to wheel throwing by a woman who owned and operated a pottery studio and gallery. Linda became the curator for the paintings because of her art background. She claims that this was when her love of clay began.

A few years later and after another move across the country to California, Linda decided to take ceramic courses at her local community college. She planned to transfer to a nearby university to complete a fine arts degree with a concentration in ceramics. However, that did not materialize because she moved once again across the country to New Jersey.

Since that last move, she set up a pottery studio in the back of her property. Soon after making more pots than she could house or give to friends, she started selling her wares at local craft fairs, art shows, and online. Her work was in the Potters' Guild of New Jersey Pottery Show (2020 and 2021) and Madison Mud's Pop-Up Pot Shop (2020).

Linda lives and works in Scotch Plains, NJ, on a lovely tree-lined street full of Sweetgum and Dogwoods.
