My Mom and Grandma were both "crafers" for as far back as I can remember. I spent the biggest part of my childhood watching them sit around the dining room table working hard for the next craft/christmas show. I have some of their creations in my basement and put them out every year with a smile and a tear. My favorites though are year round stuff that I can enjoy all the time. Since I've left my former employer (you know who you are lol) I've started pulling some of the multitudes of junk out of my basement and trying to throw some things together to give it new life and hopefully put a smile on a face or two. I know now why they sat around that table (sometimes slinging a few curse words around when the current project wasn't cooperating) I enjoy it...gives me a kind of peace and feeling of accomplishment when I get something completed and I really like it!
