I am a self taught oil painter from ConwaySC. I started painting in the late 1990's. Usually my paintings focus on the bright, clean colors of light and their interaction with the objects they are being absorbed and reflected by. Once a painting is started it is painted wet until completed. This does not mean the painting is hurried or rushed. It takes many hours from the start of a painting to the finished product—this includes all sizes. Paint is applied using thick strokes of color. Often I see something beautiful in a painting that occurred totally by accident. These accidental discoveries are frequently found when painting in a very loose, impressionistic style. Sometimes a painting’s entire composition will be changed to accommodate an “accident”. The subject matter for my paintings is found in and around his home town of Conway, South Carolina and from the Grand Strand to the coastal areas of Wilmington, NC to Charleston, SC and where ever he discovers new colorful compositions.
