I love working with fused glass, even when it doesn't love me back. Glass tends to do what it wants and occasionally when I open the kiln after a firing, I find a bubble or unrepairable crack. I look upon this potential disaster as an opportunity instead to create something new rather than focusing on what went awry.
I especially enjoy creating scenes of nature that I make to sit on a tabletop to let the sun light shine through the piece. It is amazing how different a piece might look depending on the time of day or the weather outside. Additionally, I enjoy making abstract designs and forming them into bowls, plates, and vases.
I have a small studio with a large kiln on a seventy-acre farm which allows me to walk away from my mess if I need to go pick vegetables from the garden or feed the fish in the pond. While I have done many shows I would much rather be creating and experimenting with styles and techniques. I am an amateur that enjoys getting lost in the creation of a piece. The play of light, movement and color are integral to my work whether it is in fused glass, mono gel printing or oil painting.
