Puka Pey Designs is a small business that has grown and evolved since 2009. I began to craft when my oldest daughter was born. I taught myself how to crochet and spent the next several years with a hook and yarn in my hand. I've made hundreds of hats, blankets, booties but my favorite thing to make is small stuffed animals and loveys. Throughout the years I began toying with the idea of creating crochet hooks by covering them with clay and sculpting fun characters on them. I bought some polymer clay and spare hooks and spent time learning how to work with a new medium. I've made thousands of hooks at this point and still love working with clay!
In 2018 I had the worst year of my life. I was devastated on every front and put my yarn and clay down. I lost my love for crafting. In 2020 when the world stopped I was forced out of my melancholy. My oldest daughter began having seizures out of the blue and we almost lost her, twice. During that year we spent more time in doctors offices than ever before, trying to find answers. What I found was a need for mask. So in April I bought a small sewing machine, pulled up YouTube and taught myself how to sew.
My love for sewing was born out of a need at the time but has grown into a passion. I've changed my crafts throughout the years but not my love for crafting. I am now entering into the craft festival scene for the first time and I hope it becomes another love and way to share the items I make!
