Flugelhorns and Fleece

Flugelhorns and Fleece
"I must fill the flugelhorns!" ... such is my battle cry as I boldly head off to the studio to bury myself in a whirlwind of fleece, foam and plastic spoons.

While some may recognize the flugelhorn as a beautiful brass horn expertly played by skilled musicians, it means something entirely different at Puppet Bakery.

Faced with the unique task of displaying over 80 puppets, I hemmed and hawed at this bizzare challenge. Sensing my dilemma and accustomed to my weird requests, hubby came to the rescue and built two brilliant display racks for my fleecey furry friends to perch upon. Odd creations they are, these large puppet "grandstands" get loads of attention wherever they go. While helping me set up for a Portland show, my brother carried a puppet grandstand upon his shoulders, taking care not to whack passerbys in the face with the long brown PVC pipes protruding from his upper back and shoulder area. "Come on sis," he said, making his way through the crowd, "let's get these ... uhh ...  flugelhorns set up and ready."

From that day on, they were known as flugelhorns.
And now my focus is to fill those flugelhorns with as much creativity, playfulness and artistic expression I can possibly muster. With focus so fierce, food and water become a nuisance.
