As a child I was always interested in how things work and what was inside of things like TV radios clocks and so on. I would find things in the alley bring them home and take them apart; sometimes even put them back together again. Being raised in a very creative environment I learned from my father and my mother, my dad was an aircraft mechanic, craftsman and quite the hobbyist and my mom excelled in many of the fine arts. In high school I started to make leather crafts and Native American artwork for fun and gifts for my friends. I was introduced to the mountain man rendezvous in the early 1970's and became interested in making all kinds of trade goods of the 1820's fur trade period I also started to make muzzle loading rifles and pistols, leather goods and knives of that era. One thing led to another and before long I was making muzzle loading replica artillery,
I have been a machinist for over 40 years making everything from aerospace to agricultural pieces and parts I have decided to have fun creating art with my talents that I have developed over the years. Originally from the Denver Metro area I worked in various machine shops. I am now set up in Edgewood New Mexico in our 1200-foot shop dedicated to making new and fun art. A lot of the sculptures that we make require fabricated pieces to complete their assembly. Having a small machine shop, woodworking shop, metal fabrication area and a great jewelry section helps us tremendously and gives us the opportunity to create unique and special art pieces. Partnered up with the love of my life we get to work together and help each other make art that is different and truly special.

Ever since I can remember I have been in love with nature and art, as a little girl in school art was one of my favorite subjects. I am sure that my Native American heritage may have something to do with my love and attachment to nature and the ways of the Original people. As I got older I began to here messages from the elders, my interest in anthropology got me interested in artifacts. I would go out on my own property in Kentucky where I found some of my first artifacts. The messages and feelings from these amazing treasures would touch my heart in a special way. I loved being out in nature looking and listening to the beautiful songs of nature. While out walking I would find beautiful rocks and bring some of them home with me. I would only take what I needed and never any more. I was fortunate to be able to go to various sites in this amazing land and see ruins and ancient places long since forgotten. My art always had some of nature's beauty within it and I love working with stones, fossils and many different things from nature. My jewelry shows the amazing and special beauty that only nature can create.
Fairly new to creating art from recycled and found objects gives me another outlet for my creative side. I am thrilled be able to make art from something that was headed to the landfill, saving these treasures not only gives them a new life but helps save precious energy and natural resources. When someone loves the art I do from recycled items it makes me smile, because they too understand the importance of saving our planet. If we saved more of natural resources and reused things instead of just discarding them our home would be a brighter and cleaner place. I know the ancient ones know that I listen to their voices and truly respect their ways and through my art I hope to pass this on to future generations. Many blessings Vicki
