FASHION SECRET

posted February 4, 2016   category » Exciting Updates

Fashion Secret….. Adding a headband to your wardrobe is one of the most economical ways to add a spark to your outfit, your accessories and of course your hair.

We all have our rotation of work clothing that gets worn over and over. At some point we can even figure out when “Sarah” in the office is going to wear her brown pants with her beige shirt. When you start taking bets on outfits that’s when you know you obviously need to be a little busier.

Hopefully you are not the “Sarah” of the office, but if you are THERE IS HOPE!!!!

Here are some ideas to help you out of your wardrobe blahs.

  1. Instead of buying a new wardrobe you can spruce up what you already have in your closet with accessories like headbands. A glitzy headband can take you from drab to fab.
  2. Don’t be afraid to MIX COLORS!!!! If you are wearing brown, throw on a turquoise headband and make your outfit pop!
  3. Get more bang for your buck! Some headbands can be worn as a necklace and even as bracelets. Depending on the style an investment in one headband can result in three wardrobe accessories.

Stop by and view my ETSY shop at https://www.etsy.com/listing/260837211 and above all have fun accessorizing!

HOW IN THE WORLD DO I KEEP MY HEADBAND ON MY HEAD?

posted February 2, 2016   category » Exciting Updates

How in the world do I keep my headband on my head?

I am finding this is a more common question than we all thought, seriously.

How do some people simply put a headband on and it stays and looks awesomely perfect? This is the million dollar question of the day.

How come some people simply cannot get a headband to stay on at all?
You put it on your head and BAM! Slips and slides off like you have repellent on your hair.

Relax! Not everyone has the same shaped head, so inevitably you may have a larger skull than the average size person. Based on Ask.com the average head circumference of an adult male is 22.44 inches and a female is 20.87 inches, respectively. However, averages vary widely depending on the age and ethnicity of the individual.

I have some tips and information to help all those out there that are headband challenged.

  1. Try using bobby pins or small hair clips at the back of your head (behind your ear) to pin the headband in place.
  2. Spray the underside of your headband with hairspray to provide a bit of adhesive
  3. Examine the texture and material of the headband; smooth fabrics like a sateen ribbon will likely need pinned.
  4. Just because the headband says “grip” or “no slip” it may still slip.
  5. Keep in mind the hair products you use make an impact on your headband staying on as well (ex. a heavy hair gloss).
  6. Myth: Your headband will stay on if you keep your hair down.
  7. All headbands are made in different sizes so if you can try it on, TRY IT ON.

Hope these tips gave you a couple new ideas you didn’t think of prior and above all, have fun accessorizing!

Busy as Ever

Busy as Ever
Hi Everyone,

I have been busy sewing new designs and styles of headbands for 2016.
I am also researching fairs and events that I can attend to participate in and share my love of sewing with style.
In February I am participating in a home show as well as the MCHS 25th Annual Craft Fair at Minooka Community  High School (301 South Wabena Avenue, Minooka, Illinois 60447).

I have been working on solid colored headbands, children's headbands, a valentines line as well as a formal line (weddings/Quinceneras/1st Communions and so on).

I am so excited and blessed to have this opportunity to share with everyone. Please check out my ETSY listing at: https://www.etsy.com/listing/260837211
