A couple of years ago I was going through a difficult time in my life and needed an outlet. My sister had given my daughter and me some paints as a Christmas gift. At first I thought this was a wonderful way for mother/daughter time, and it was and always will be. But after a little while I began to realize that painting relaxed me and during the time I needed something to take my mind off things, be relaxed. After painting had gotten me through the difficult time, I realized how much I enjoyed it.
Since I was little I have always enjoyed picking up a pencil and drawing. Drawing was a past time for me. I would draw anything that I desired to. I found that painting was a challenge, though. It did not seem to come as naturally. It was something different, exciting, and at time challenging. I still look for ways to expand and challenge myself through my art.
I try to keep expanding my knowledge on different aspects of painting, from mixed media to fluid to air brush. When I sit to start painting, I paint what I have a desire to paint that day. I have found that when I want to complete the painting I relax more. That is what painting is for me, my relaxing place.
I have a very supportive family who encourages me to continue with my art. A husband who keeps building me new areas to expand where I paint (even when it takes over the garage). I could not do this without all of them.
I sign my paintings with SK. SK stands for Sandra Kay. I hope you enjoy my art.
