How to compete with non-handmade items

posted April 19, 2018   category » Competition
We frequently setup at shows and while the rules may state "handmade items only", we are surrounded by booths that include 'made in china'.  As our items are hand made and hand crafted, it's hard to compete against items that can be mass produced for a substantial lower cost.

When approached and asked about our prices, we explain the work that goes into each item, how it was made and then let the potential buy decide if the quality is worth the extra expense.  As a seller, you will not change a buyers mind if they do not want to spend the extra money on quality so we just accept it.

Also, we cannot compete with a vendor that is hawking free food samples, i.e., dips.  Ask the show organizing if this is allowed and request not to be placed next to them.
