Crystal Creation By Sharon
A few years ago I was cleaning out a closet in the spare room and found a box of old jewelry and a box of crystals that I had been collecting over the years.  I was going to donate them to the goodwill but thought, “what if I put this on that?”  Not having any tools to put the items together other than a pare of players, it proved to be quite a chore, but the finished product made a statement.  Liking what had been done, I went to the local craft store and bought a few supplies.  I continued to put things together and really began to enjoy the items I was creating.  As a teenager, I had always had that “crystal” hanging in the window, but now I was doing more than just hanging a crystal on a string.  The pieces of jewelry made a statement when the silhouette of the item was seen, but even more so when the sun refracted through the attached crystals.  I soon began filling my window, when my husband asked” What are you going to do with those?”  I replied,  “well, maybe someone might buy them.”  I started sharing my creations at a local farmers market which allowed crafters to show their items.  I figured if I sold at least one I would return the next week.  I went to my first showing with 5 items and  sold one.  Excited that someone actually liked what I was doing, I went the next week and sold two.  As I continued to create my “window jewelry” as I called it, I expanded from using jewelry (usually pilfered from friends jewelry boxes) to other items such as yard art, bird baths, metal objects and anything else that “spoke” to me.  That was over 10 years ago.  Since then I have created thousands of one-of-a-kind pieces of Window Jewelry  that are being enjoyed by others.  I have had the chance to be challenged to create themes desired by others and have even used pieces of heirloom jewelry - never worn but never discarded-  that would have otherwise been hidden away in a box.   I currently advertise on FB and Instagram posting what I have created that day.  I invite you to friend me and keep watch on my latest creations.   ENJOY!
