I learned to make jewelry with sterling silver and colored stones in high school and college. Later, my love of color attracted me to dichroic glass. I was intrigued by the mediums flexibility. I liked that I could make my own “stones” to go with the settings I was already creating. My design process is fairly organic. I start by gathering my materials and then I try to envision the end results. I prefer to work directly with the materials, so everything is individually hand made. My glass cabochons are made by layering different colors of glass into shapes and patterns, which are then fused in a kiln. I create glass objects in groups. Then I create a setting to suit the individual piece. It's a process that allows me more freedom to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Carol B Elmore
