Originally from Seven Mile, Ohio, I lived in and around Chicago since 1992. Crocheting for more than 40 years, I didn't learn to knit until 15 years ago while in Portland Maine. I became fascinated with the construction and shaping techniques of felted wool. Starting with a sketch, I hunt for the perfect blend of colors and textures for the project. When the project is worked up by either knitting or crocheting, it is agitated in boiling soapy water, After checking the project often to determine just the right amount of felting, it is immersed in cold water to rinse. When most of the excess water is pulled out, the shaping process begins by tugging and pulling into the desired shape. The project is stuffed with drying cloths and left to dry completely. Sometimes this drying process takes three or more days depending on the density of the fabric. When completely dry, the project is finished by hand stitching any desired embellishments, i.e., handles, buttons, snap closure, etc. I hope you enjoy my handcrafted bags and other fine things!
