Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2015, Stan Hywet is the former residence of Goodyear Tire co-founder, Frank "F.A." Seiberling and his wife, Gertrude. Mr. & Mrs. Seiberling welcomed family and friends to their 65,000 sq foot, 65-room "American Country Estate" for 40 years.
In 1957, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens opened its doors as a museum, welcoming guests from around the world, just as the Seiberling family did a century ago.
Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is the sixth largest home open to the public and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. It is Akron, Ohio's oldest National Historic Landmark. Historic gardens include the English Garden, one of the restored gardens by pioneering female landscape architect Ellen Biddle Shipman that is open to the public.
