Syl's Echoes of Nature, Laughlin, NV
Hello I am Syl Holly-Lobato and I live in Colorado in the small mountain hamlet of Pagosa Springs Colorado with my husband Leroy.
I spent many years in the ranch lands of Oregon and the Southwest Desert of Arizona which has afforded me a wide spectrum of landscapes and wildlife giving me a vast knowledge of the North Country with its babbling creeks as well as the “Cuttin Edge of Light” found in the Desert. For beauty unsurpassed, Colorado is the ultimate for wildlife, white water and mountain splendor. I truly blessed to live in this all inspiring countryside.
I presently do a few select indoor shows, but primarily have gallery representation in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. Most of my work is in private collections in the United State, Germany, England and Japan. I am a member of the Wildlife Artist Netlink.
As all artists, I painted in oils, water colors and acrylics, finally settling in acrylics. In 1995 I ran head on into a new concept of art…Painting on Stone…but not just any stone. I use thinly sliced pieces of marble, jasper, agate and various other varieties. Each stone tells its own story from the design found in its facial features. The stone has become my canvas and I paint the scenes to blend into the rock. This “new canvas” opened a window for creativity and color which keeps my imagination working over-time. To me, STONE IS NATURE’S STORY BOOK and I blessed to be able to paint wildlife on it and create a story within a story.
I have just recently added mixed medium to my art work and have been doing some pencil drawings, pen and ink with acrylic and water color washes.
I have a great studio in my home which allows me the freedom to work and still enjoy a balance busy live with my wonderful husband.
