As a fine arts artist, I draw and paint in pencil, pastels and watercolor and have recently added digital illustration to my skillset.
Being an artist all my life and a graphic designer for over 26 years has enhanced and complemented my interest in gourd crafting. I began growing and decorating gourds over 15 years ago. During this time, I have perfected and added to my techniques utilizing carving, dying, painting and wood burning (pyrography).
Since gourds are a 3-dimensional medium that grow in a variety of shapes and sizes, it's always a fun challenge to see what unique design it will evolve into. Each one I create is distinct and different. My gourds are an organic product and the artistic process to decorate them does not involve chemicals just creativity!
