A HAZY Shade of GRAY, Chippewa Falls, WI
A HAZY SHADE OF GRAY
A HAZY SHADE OF GRAY is composed of Randy Adams (Randall Adams Music) on vocals and guitars,John LeBrun on percussion and Bob Whelihan on bass. They bring a unique take on old standards, covers of well-known and less well-known music from a wide variety of genres and time periods, plus Randy's own compositions. You will hear our take on popular music from many decades, Americana, folk, country, rock, maybe a bit of classical, some Afro-Latino, some decidedly uncategorizable music, and about anything we take a liking to. Our Duo is signed to Promotion Music Records.
Randy Adams:
Randy has been an acoustic guitarist/singer since the Great Folk Scare of the sixties, and more recently added electric guitar into his offerings. He is adept at both fingerstylings and various flatpicking styles, and has always enjoyed variety. He has mainly worked solo over the years, but also in various combinations, most recently as ½ of the duo The Cry Babies, and The Adams/LeBrun Duo (predecessor to A Hazy Shade of Gray). His musical influences include The Beatles, CSN&Y, Dan Hicks, Tom Petty, Dylan, NGDB, and many others. He is a signed artist with Promotion Music Records, which released his full-length CD, West Wind, plus singles.
John LeBrun:
John got his first pair of drum sticks in 1969 and his first paying gig in 1974. John is a UW-Eau Claire Jazz alumnus and over the past 40 plus years, John has performed with numerous bands including the Jones Tones, Lucy Creek Blues Band, Howard Luedtke, Home Grown Tomatoes, LP3, G-String Theory, Weapons of Brass Destruction, Jenny and the Jets, Transistor Radio, Mission Drive Street Band, Jim Phillips Project, Code Blue, and of course, Randy Adams. John also provides the percussion tracks on Randy's West Wind CD.
Bob Whelihan:
Bob has extensive touring experience in multiple genres. Moving out of touring, he now plays with the Shades, as well as with a few other regional bands. His exceptional bass work has added a new depth to the group. His addition to the duo also necessitated a name change for the group!
