It all started in 1997 after handing out smoked wings cooked in a whiskey barrel during a local parade that summer. One thing led to another and soon there was a catering kitchen in a new garage. This “garage kitchen” soon became known as The BBQ SHACK.
BBQ was served out of the local American Legion starting in October 2004 until October 2005. Then it was at the local VFW until March of 2006, when a stand-alone building came available. The BBQ SHACK restaurant opened in May 2006. Whole Hogs, ribs, atomic buffalo turds, wings, and burnt ends soon became staples among brisket and pulled pork. In August 2007, Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives showed up and the show aired in November 2007. As we said before, “one thing led to another” and The BBQ SHACK moved in October 2008. While we lasted at this new location for ten years, it became obvious something needed to change. Drop the monthly lease, get out of the restaurant biz, and now we are A FOOD TRUCK!
