Original Jewelry and Mosaic Glass Design
My husband John, and I create fused glass jewelry by kiln firing dichroic glass and then wrapping it in silver, gold copper or bronze wire. I enjoy hammereing fine silver and copper to create varied surfaces, while he enjoys the wrapping process. We also use lamp glass, and natural stone in our jewelry. When not working on jewelry, we create mosaic wall art and sculture using stained glass, river rocks, old jewelry, and recycled items...lots of recycled items...from cabinet doors, to drawer pulls. I once used a shower nozzle!
The best thing about creating art is that it is so satisfying-so gratifying when a piece works out to become the thing I originally saw in my head. It usually works out this way. The flip side is that the few times it hasn't...I feel like hurling them off the balcony...rocks, glass, all of it! That's when John takes it from me- sends me out of the studio and tries to redeem it. We make a good team.
