Growning up Luso-American in a traditional Portuguese home had its share of challenges, I wouldn't exactly say I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, it was more of a wooden spoon.
My father, being a Lobsterman and Chef, showed me the ropes, so to speak, he actually showed me the ropes on the lobster pots and the backside of many cooking pots, he would often say “you need to know where your food comes from”, I didn't appreciate his words way back when, gratefully they had the intended impact and today, I no longer fish for lobsters with my father but carry his words through my cooking.
