Photography:
I find and photgraph shapes in nature, architectue, machinery, etc., that resemble letters of the alphabet. Then I assemble them in handmade frames that can be hung or displayed to spell words, using pictures that are thematically relevant to the word I'm spelling. I work mainly in black and white, but do some color.
Biography:
TinaType is the work of Tina Osborn, the seeds of which began in the 1980s when she left television post-production on such shows as The A-Team, Hardcastle and McCormick, and Stingray and began to study photography at Art Center/College of Design in Pasadena. Raising a family postponed her dedicating herself to it full time, but it was never far from her mind. Over the last few years, with her two daughters in college, Tina picked up the camera again and began trying something she hadn’t done before: isolating shapes and patterns in nature and architecture, which led to discovering and isolating letters, then building words appropriate to the images.
