My October 21, 2008 left hip replacement dislocated to the front immediately (between the operating room and recovery). My femur "floated" on my pelvis for two weeks, crushing two of the nerves. The November 6 revision surgery was a success, but now my right leg is 20cm longer than my left. After four months of physical therapy three times a week, I can walk short distances and am building stamina and control.
My first outdoor show this season is the Flag Day Festival June 13-4 at the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia. I will be dressed in 1916 costume (the first National Flag Day) as Sister Suffragette, will demonstrate pearl knotting on cord and answer questions about the era in general and the suffrage movement in particular. In addition to my current box and jewelry offerings, I will display an assortment of historically accurate 1916-era jewelry.
I joined the Creative Collective this year, and will be displaying at Headhouse Square in Philadelphia July 25, August 1 and 29, Sept. 12 and 26, and October 10.
