Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Her father, the great baritone saxophonist, Harold cumberbatch, named her Donna Lynn after Miles Davis' composition,"Donna Lee", made famous by Charlie Parker. The stage was set for her musical voyage.
Tulivu is a vocal stylist who has performed in the Caribbean, Europe, West Africa, Russia Japan, Canada and the United States.
She has worked with such artists as John Hicks, Hannibal Lokumbe, the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kronos Quartet, Steve Wilson and Romero Lubambo to name a few.
Tulivu and her Magnificent Trio have worked together for 15 years and the chemistry is magical. The trio consists of Donald Smith,p., Mark Johnson,d. and Rachiim Sahu,b. She has been compared to Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan and Gloria Lynne but clearly exhibits her own unique enchanting classy style.
