I lived in New Gloucester, Maine from the ages of 5 to 13. I was raised by the Shakers and learned how to sew on an old fashioned treadle sewing machine. We used to make dolls clothes and aprons to sell in the Shaker store. We were taught how to knit, crochet, card wool, sew and many other very useful necessities for life. I left at the age of 13 and shortly after that became a ward of the state in Connecticut. I met my husband when I was 18. We have 2 children, 2 grandchilden, 2 great grandchilden and one on the way. I taught myself quilting about eight years ago and when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I opened my quilt and gift shop. I have shown at many shows and will continue to quilt as long as I am able. It is my passion and have never found it boring.
