Authentic sea glass results from glass containers discarded into the sea, then broken up and repeatedly ground by tides washing the glass against rocks and pebbles along the shore. Collecting this sea glass has always been part of my enjoyment while walking along the rocky shores of Massachusetts, Maine and New Jersey. Having amassed a large collection, I began creating unique pieces of jewelry, allowing the shape of each piece of sea glass to dictate the eventual style of the particular piece of jewelry.
Pricing of the individual items reflects both the grade of the sea glass and the rarity of the color. I have primarily chosen to use Grade A and B authentic sea glass. Grade A is thoroughly frosted with rounded corners and no chips or visible defects. Grade B may have a small chip or defect visible on one side, or has more defined edges. The remaining sea glass has more than one of the defects of grade B, but because of its unique shape, color, or other qualities, may still make a nice piece of jewelry.
