A special way to customize your felted flowers is to incorporate hair into the felting. The idea came from my own experience in 2008 during treatment of stage 4 lung cancer. (I am also a 1993 stage 2 breast cancer survivor). As my hair started to fall out from chemotherapy treatments, I decided to just cut it off one day. I saved it in an envelope. When I passed my 5 year, cance-free milestone, I wanted to give something memorable to my family and friends who helped me survive. While looking at the envelope from 2008, divine intervention guided me to add the hair to my felted flowers. Family and friends were touched by the sentiment and enjoyed having a part of me with them. I have used hair and felt to celebrate other milestones such as baby's first haircut, grandparent birthdays from all the grandchildren. I have even used dog/cat hair to mark the passage of a favorite family pet.
