Did I set out to be a mixed media artisan recovering used handbags? Hardly! I am a native of the Northwest, raised among the green of the outdoors and the environmentally conscious. All the disciplines I have been involved with, healthcare, photography, travel and as a floral designer and fashionista have lead me to this.
When I look at a used purse… it tells me how it wants to be designed and repurposed, and my creative juices immediately kick in: Pretty? Quirky? Loud? or Quiet? I strive to create refreshing, calming and /or quirky objects which combine the utilitarian with remembrances of nature. I meld the everyday handbag with the beauty of plants and forest and found objects. My intent is to draw the viewer away from their busy life into a moment of reflection and amusement.
