Attic Art + Design

Member Since: October 6, 2009

My interest in the past led me to study Art History at The University of Texas, but I've always liked to make art as well. I really thought I would go to college and major in Art, however, after taking an Art History class I found a whole new world of Art that I really enjoyed. Early on as an undergrad I had an affinity for the Italian Renaissance. I had studied so much, when I closed my eyes I felt like I was walking through the streets of 15th century Florence. Although being in Texas had its advantages, Italian culture wasn't one of them. I was exposed much more to the Chicano/a, Mexican, and Latin American art scene and culture. Being exposed to so many types of art through Art History, my own work started to develop and become inspired by the artists I was visiting in the classroom.

My favorite mediums to work in are Watercolors, Pencils, and Acrylics. I started making art in the early 90's and it's been my passion ever since, along with traveling. I've been from the crypts to the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. I've seen mummies and been on the canals in Amsterdam. I've stood under the Alexander Calder installation at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., and sat in front of my favorite paintings by Gustav Klimt at the Museum of Modern Art. My travels have taken me to fantastic places and given me invaluable inspiration for life and art.

I strive to make my art creative, original and daring.
